Got a new split roof piece

I recently got a split front roof piece from Gurra. I have a roof with a three-fold sunroof and a split dash with the a-pillars cut of in the middle. The original plan was to merge the pillars like you would on a roof chop.
.
The new roof piece will hopefully make the split conversion easier as the pillars are cut down by the dash. Another bonus is that it has the "hammer dent" unique to the split. The three-fold roof came from an early oval so it didn't have this dent.
.
Rust sucks. I want to start on split conversion.

A picture of the new 62-pan

Here's a pic of the 62-pan that I'm going to use.
A fresh coat of POR15 on the flipside. I painted the other side a few days later.

This is the third car from our garage that uses these stands in a short time.
First it was PeCe's Notch, second came Thomas 68 beetle and now its the 59.
A variation on the old hoodride phrase.
Kind of explains how I feel about rust for the moment...

Rusty pan and heater channels

The rusty 59-pan. It was welded to the pan, but the heater channels were so rusty they needed close to no cutting to separate the body from the pan. That was a good thing actually since ALL bolts from the channels were rusted solid.

Almost nothing done this winter

The heater in our garage was shot in October as I recall.
Not much done with the car during the winter. As usual...
I just started to tear it down to handle the rust.
Rusty heater channel.

Rust...

More rust...
